Twitch Rivals is hosting its first tournament for Riot Games' online League of Legends card game Legends of Runeterra. The first ever Twitch Rivals: Legends of Runeterra Showdown will feature the top LoR streamers competing for a $100,000 prize pool starting on Thursday, May 14 at 9:00am PT on the Twitch Rivals Twitch channel.
Legends of Runeterra, while technically part of the League of Legends universe, is Riot Games' third development after LoL and auto-battler Teamfight Tactics. LoR went into its beta on January 24, 2020, and went live in full on April 30, 2020.
For those unfamiliar, Legends of Runeterra takes elements from the League of Legends universe in the form of champions, races, cities, faction, etc to form an online card game similar to Magic: The Gathering or Blizzard Entertainment's Hearthstone, the latter of which is based around the universe of World of Warcraft.
Twitch Rivals has previously hosted tournaments for top Twitch streamers in a multitude of games, primarily the other Riot games titles. The specifics of who is competing in the Twitch Rivals: Legends of Runeterra Showdown is currently unknown, but with the start of the tournament only six days away, details regarding participants should be revealed soon.
