Today’s cartoon is about the first-ever friendly tournament to take place due to the cancellation of the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI).
As the pandemic continues throughout the world, the MSI has been canceled as many fans worried. Before this, it was notified that the Rift Rivals will be discontinued, so MSI being canceled was a big disappointment to LoL fans. The summer seasons, Worlds, and the All-Star Event are the only official competitions left. It’s surely an empty year 2020.
T1’s CEO, Joe Marsh, came up with a suggestion on Twitter, with an idea of a friendly tournament between the top teams of the LCK and LPL. As a result, there are reports that T1, Gen.G, DragonX, and DAMWON will represent the LCK, and JD Gaming, Top Esports, FunPlus Phoenix, and Invictus Gaming will represent the LPL in this friendly tournament.
Although it’s just a friendly tournament, the lineup has diverse rivalries, so the matches will be fierce. The battle of pride between China and Korea is also another important part. Even if it’s just a ‘friendly’ match, some fans predict that it would be even fiercer than the Rift Rivals or the MSI. For this reason, there are some fans who are worried about the stress that the players will get.
The details of the tournament haven’t been officially announced yet. We won’t know how it’ll be, how interesting it’ll be until it starts. There could be several ‘for fun’ matches like the All-Stars Event to prevent too much competitiveness. Hopefully, this event that’s taking place for the first time ever could bring fun and merriment to the world that’s suffering from the coronavirus.
