FlyQuest has defeated Evil Geniuses 3-1 in the Semifinals of the 2020 League of Legends Championship Series Spring Playoffs, and will move on to the first Finals match in the organization's history against Cloud9.
FlyQuest lost its first series of the post-season to Evil Geniuses 3-1, and had to triumph over Golden Guardians and TSM for a rematch in the Semifinals. EG looked out of sorts compared to its recent form in the series, but FLY's adjustment showed a better understanding of its opponent than shown in the first round of the Spring Playoffs. In an interview with Inven Global before the series, FlyQuest Head Coach Anand "Curry" Agarwal explained why he felt the team could beat EG in the Semis:
"I think there's a lot we learned in terms of what they are good at and how they want to play, as well as what we need to do differently to adjust to those things," said Curry. "Honestly, in that first series against EG, we felt like we had a really good idea on how to beat them going into both game 3 and game 4."
FlyQuest will be heading into its first LCS Finals as an organization, but its victory over Evil Geniuses was far from perfect. To stand a chance against the titanic Cloud9, FLY has less than 24 hours to prepare for its toughest opponent yet in the highest stakes matchup in organizational history.
FlyQuest's previous best marks as an organization in the 2017 NA LCS Spring Playoffs and 2019 LCS Spring Playoffs; both post-season runs ended in 4th place finishes.
