Riot Games has revealed the official launch date of their digital collectible card game Legends of Runeterra. On April 30 the game will end its Open Beta phase and officially go live on PC, Android, and iOS devices, fully supporting cross-platform play. As a surprise, Riot Games revealed that Legends of Runeterra will go live with a new expansion, introducing a seventh region to the game.
At Legends of Runeterra's launch, all players who played during the Open Beta will get to keep everything they've earned in the game so far—there won't be an account reset. There will be a reset for Legend of Runeterra's Ranked mode, however: Master accounts will be set back 8 divisions, Diamond and Platinum accounts 7.5 divisions, Gold and Silver accounts 6.75 divisions, and Bronze and Iron accounts will be reset to the Iron IV rank. To commemorate Open Beta all participants will get a unique player icon representing their highest rank of the Open Beta, as well as a Moonstruck Poro Guardian.
Riot Games has given very little information about the surprise expansion coming to Legends of Runeterra. It'll be added to Legends of Runeterra with patch 1.0, which is set to go live on April 28, 10 AM PT—the expansion will be playable before Legends of Runeterra's official launch. In total, more than 120 cards will be added to the game. A whole new region joins the existing lineup, and the regions currently represented in Legends of Runeterra will receive more cards as well.
While Riot hasn't shared which region will be added, dataminers found a large list of voice lines for champions like Aurelion Sol, Soraka, and Zoe a few weeks ago.
You can already install Legends of Runeterra on PC today via the official website. You'll need to create a Riot Games account if you don't already have one. If you have one, you can simply log in, press the install button, and the rest is taken care of. When downloading Legends of Runeterra for mobile, it's not necessary to log in with a Riot Games account—you can also log in with the game service the platform itself provides. However, if you want to play cross-platform and save the progress you made on mobile for your PC account too, you will need to create a Riot Games account.
