The mid laner for Gen.G’s League of Legends squad, Gwak “Bdd” Bo-seong, donated 5,000,000 KRW (roughly 4,100 USD) to aid those battling the COVID-19 (also known as the coronavirus) epidemic in Korea. Currently, there are 1,766 confirmed cases, 25,568 undergoing examination, and 13 deaths in Korea. Because of this epidemic, not only is the LCK being held without any spectators, when the national alert level was put at its highest by the government, the press room at LoL Park was also shut down indefinitely.
After his match, Bdd commented in a tweet that, “In order to meaningfully spend my upcoming birthday and the 4th anniversary of my debut, I decided to help those fighting and containing the Corona19 by donating to the cause. Although I’m saddened by the fact that I won’t be able to hear the fans sing me the birthday song, I’ll continue to be a player that the fans will be proud of. Please stay safe and thank you for all the support.”
