On the fourteenth day of 2017 LCK Spring Split, Longzhu Gaming defeated ROX Tigers with a hard-earned 2-1 victory. While Longzhu had a rocky start in Game 3, Dongwoo "Crash" Lee turned the game around with a clutch Baron steal.
Here is our interview with him.
Congratulations on your hard-fought victory!
It was indeed a hard-fought match, but I guess all that matters is that we've won in the end. I wasn't doing so well in the match, so I'm glad that I managed to turn Game 3 around with the Baron steal.
You've had some trouble against the enemy jungler.
I was falling behind ROX's Rengar, but I guess I've redeemed myself through the Baron steal. With that Baron steal, I can say that I didn't lose the jungle match-up.
You are on a winning streak right now. What is the team mood like?
I don't know about the others, but I've been having some trouble adjusting to the current metagame. I practice while thinking to myself that only I have to do well for our team to win.
Can you tell us more about what you are having trouble with?
Spawn timers of jungle camps have changed significantly, and I've been having some trouble because of it.
In Game 3, you've also had a Baron stolen from you by Maokai's sapling. What happened there?
Jongin "PraY" Kim told me to line up my Smite with his Piercing Arrow on the count of three, then Baron suddenly disappeared. I actually didn't know that the sapling killed Baron. I just thought that the enemy jungler took it.
But you've still won the teamfight afterwards.
We were saying that while it was a shame to lose Baron, we were glad that we've won the teamfight. However, I still thought that it would have been even better if I took Baron. (Laugh)
Seunghwan "Seunghawn" Yoon is often said to be out of shape. Do you agree?
I'm sure about his other champions, but he is definitely good with Rengar.
ROX Tigers is famed for its aggressiveness. What was your main focus during preparation for today's match?
We've prepared quite a bit on the draft phase. Some of today's draft phase went just as we have planned.
I guess enduring their aggressiveness in person must have felt different compared to just preparing against it.
Yeongmin "Mickey" Son was very good at making aggressive plays. I think we've played against him on his good day.
True, but Mickey still made some questionable plays.
I guess he was trying to carry the team too hard.
Ivern is being picked quite often in the other leagues. What are your thought on Ivern?
Ivern was okay in Patch 7.2, but I'll have to wait until Patch 7.3 hits to see how good Ivern will be after the nerf.
Did you expect the enemy to make the Baron call that early in Game 3?
I couldn't go to the botlane because of Cassiopeia and the possibility of Baron call. I had to play while keeping an eye out for their Baron call.
Aren't you a bit disappointed that you didn't get the MVP?
Bontaek "Expession" Koo did very well today, so I'm not disappointed at all. It's not a surprise to me.
...
Fine, I'm a tad bit disappointed. (Laughs)
You're in the third place with today's victory. How do you feel?
Last year, there was a match where we could have gone up to the second place...if I didn't throw the match. However, it wasn't like that today - I'm glad that we've won today's match with my Baron steal.
Your next match will be against SK Telecom T1.
It will be hard to prepare against them, but we'll do our best. We will definitely make it fun to watch.
You'll be going head-to-head with Wangho "Peanut" Han. Are you up for it?
Well, I'll have to hide the player names. Nowadays, Sungu "Blank" Kang is doing great as well, so I'll have to keep an eye on him too.
Thank you for your time. Any parting words?
I'm trying my best to get back into a good shape. Although I haven't been doing great lately, I hope you can be patient with me until I'm back on track. I'll make sure to play well in the next match. Finally, I want to thank the fans who are cheering for me.
