On the eleventh day of 2017 LCK Spring Split, Samsung Galaxy defeated Kongdoo Monster with a 2-0 record, taking a lead over bbq Olivers in the race for the third place for the time being. What surprised us in this match was the long-awaited appearance of Jimin "Wraith" Kwon. Picking Leona as his weapon of choice, he supported his team towards victory.
Here is our interview with him after the match.
We missed you, Wraith! How does it feel to have won your long-awaited game?
Honestly, I didn't know that I would be playing. I was feeling very tense because I wasn't expecting it. Also, I couldn't practice much in terms of teamwork. On top of all that, the enemy's botlane duo was made up of Varus and Zyra, which spelled trouble for us.
So, while I don't pick Leona often outside of the Solo Queue, I had to pick her because I thought it wouldn't be easy to survive with another ranged support. Fortunately, my teammates pulled through, so it was a huge relief that we've won.
Wait, doesn't Leona usually have a hard time against ranged supports?
It's been too long since I last played in an official match, so my plays during Level 1 wasn't very good. However, I thought Leona was a good choice judging from my experience in the Solo Queue. In my opinion, Leona is extremely good at starting a fight or following up to a gank after getting to Level 2 or 3. Of course, I could have done better with Leona if I prepared more for today's match.
You were away from the booth for quite a while. What was it like?
It wasn't easy at first, but I eventually thought that there was a good reason for it. On hindsight, I think it was a great opportunity for me to learn about my weaknesses and try harder. It was a great learning experience that allowed me to practice with a lighter heart. However, while I don't usually feel tense over anything at all, my hands became numb when I entered the booth. It was an interesting experience.
Have you ever felt like leaving the team?
Samsung showed great consideration and willingness for me to stay on the team. I suppose it's because they thought it would be for the best if I were to stay with the team.
What are your personal goals for the future?
I think I'm in bad shape recently, so I'm focusing on getting back into good shape. Yongin "CoreJJ" Jo is a great player, so I think I can just focus on pulling myself together not feeling pressured or impatient but with peace of mind instead. However, I don't think I'm fully ready to play yet. When I get my confidence back after putting in some more effort, I should be able to do better.
Thank you for your time. Do you have anything else that you want to share?
I really want to thank my teammates. They all carried their own weight in today's match. I also want to thank the head coach, coaching staffs and all other staffs who often come to watch us play.
